HEERF I – CARES Act Student Emergency Fund Information

The deadline to apply for CARES Act funds (HEERF I) was Friday, May 15, 2020. Click here for information on how these funds were distributed.

Ohio Dominican was recently awarded funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help mitigate financial impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. ODU has emergency grants available to aid students who are struggling with living expenses or facing other unexpected financial challenges related to the disruption of campus operations due to this pandemic, including expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care.

Ohio Dominican recognizes the broad impacts of COVID-19 and is making these funds available to eligible undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students.

Eligibility Requirements

Emergency grant aid will be awarded in accordance with federal, state and institutional rules and regulations.  Students can apply for emergency grants through the Emergency Request form. 

According to federal guidelines, recipients must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

• Currently be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in a degree-granting program, or student pursuing initial teacher licensure
• Not have been enrolled in exclusively online courses during the 2020 spring semester
• Have completed the 2019-20 FAFSA demonstrating Title IV eligibility (U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, valid social security number, etc.)
• Have financial need or hardship related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care expenses.

HEERF II – CRSSA Student Emergency Fund Information

Applications for this round of COVID-19 funds assistance were due by 11:59 p.m., March 19, 2021. Click here for information on how these funds were distributed.

Ohio Dominican has been awarded funds from the federal government as part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRSSA) to help mitigate the financial impact of the pandemic on students.

Like last spring, this means that Ohio Dominican again has access to emergency funds it can use to help provide aid to eligible students who are struggling with expenses or other unexpected financial challenges related to the pandemic. Unlike the federal assistance made available last year, this aid is also available to those eligible students who are attending class online.

Application & Eligibility

Requirements

Emergency grant aid will be awarded in accordance with federal, state and institutional rules and regulations. Students can apply for emergency grants through the Emergency Request form.

According to federal guidelines, recipients of this assistance must meet the below criteria. Students must:

• Currently be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in a degree-granting program, or student pursuing initial teacher licensure
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Have financial need or hardship related to the pandemic, such as tuition, food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care expenses. (Students with exceptional financial need as demonstrated with 2020-21 FAFSA results will be given priority.)

Once all applications are received, assistance will be provided to eligible students as quickly as possible.

HEERF III – ARP Student Emergency Fund Information

These funds were distributed to eligible students during the 2021 Summer and 2021 Fall semesters. Click here for information on how these funds were distributed.

Ohio Dominican has been awarded funds from the federal government as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) to help mitigate the financial impact of the pandemic on students.

Like last spring, this means that Ohio Dominican again has access to emergency funds it can use to help provide aid to eligible students who are struggling with expenses or other unexpected financial challenges related to the pandemic, including those related to tuition, food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare and child care expenses.

You do not need to apply for these funds, as all eligible students will automatically receive these funds. In order to be eligible, recipients must be currently enrolled for the 2021 Summer and/or 2021 Fall semester and actively taking classes in an undergraduate or graduate degree-granting program, or a student pursuing initial teacher licensure. These funds are available to both full- and part-time students, including international students and online students.

In accordance with the federal government’s requirements, students with exceptional financial need – those who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant – as demonstrated with 2021-22 FAFSA results will be given priority, and therefore receive a larger amount of money than students who are not eligible for the Federal Pell Grant.

If you have direct deposit set up with the university, these funds will be deposited directly into the bank account that we have on file. If you have not established direct deposit with ODU, a physical check will be mailed to you.
