The Greek playwright Sophocles wrote "One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: That word is love."
Ohio Dominican has always been a place where the truth of this ancient Greek wisdom is all around. As a place with its roots in the Catholic tradition, love abounds on Sunbury Road.
The love of Christ that permeates our mission and our daily lives leads to love of neighbor and the love of knowledge that is expressed in our motto: "To contemplate truth and share with others the fruits of this contemplation.
This special quality of Ohio Dominican probably helps explain why so many who came here drawn by a love of knowledge ended up finding that other kind of love that has inspired the poets through the centuries.
For some, they were college sweethearts. For others, they didn't meet until after graduation, but in the end, they found themselves living happily ever after - as Double Dominicans.
It is widely believed that Janet Leppert (Class of 1939) wrote the words and Sister
Francis Borgia Lally (Class of 1929) wrote the music for Ohio Dominican University’s
“Alma Mater.” Unfortunately, we may never know for sure.
Janet Leppert was a great writer who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. Sister
Francis was a gifted musician who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.

Your ODU transcript is an academic record that list courses taken at Ohio Dominican and the grades received in those courses. The Registrar handles all requests for ODU transcripts and replacement diplomas.
Alumni and former students may requests transcripts online or in person.
- Alumni Insurance Plan: ODU's Alumni Insurance Plan is a convenient source for health, life, auto, travel
and home insurance for you and your family. A variety of plans are available to meet

- Course Audit: Alumni are welcome to audit ODU undergrad and graduate courses on a space-available
basis. Alumni do not earn academic credit for auditing, but will gain valuable knowledge
for personal and professional improvement.
- Career Development Center: ODU Alumni have the same access to career resources current students. Alumni can create an account in Handshake, ODU's online career community, to apply for jobs, make an appointment with a staff member, and upload your resume. No matter your career stage, the Career Development Center will support you in achieving your professional goals.
