I am Brett Shields, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has been working at ODU since 2020. Beginning here during my master’s program for my practicum and internship, I found an interest in working with this population and was fortunate enough to be hired on in 2022 and have enjoyed every minute of my time here. Approaching counseling from a Person-Centered perspective, I take on a non-judgmental stance and let the client determine what is it that they would like to work on in session. While meeting clients wherever they are in their life, I work collaboratively with clients towards goals that they would like to set. I enjoy incorporating mindfulness practices into sessions as a way for clients to explore how one can become more present and self-aware. I love the work I do and am extremely passionate about getting to know the true and authentic version of the person sitting across from me.

I am Anne Lange, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I am passionate about creating a supportive and affirming environment where all individuals can thrive. My education at Capital University not only provided me with a strong foundation in counseling principles but also deepened my appreciation for the diversity of human experiences. My approach to therapy is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT). ACT emphasizes the importance of psychological flexibility - encouraging clients to accept their thoughts and feelings rather than battling them. I use ACT and other evidenced-based techniques to support clients in developing resilience, navigating life's challenges, and making meaningful choices aligned with their values. I find immense joy in walking alongside clients as they explore their thoughts, feelings, desires, and needs to create a life they truly love.
