Degrees & Requirements
Degrees Offered
- Bachelor of Arts in English
- Minor in English
ODU's English program offers students the opportunity to read and write about great works of literature from diverse historical periods and cultures.
Through a wide variety of writing assignments, oral presentations, group projects,
creative reflections and technological innovations, students develop skills that will
prepare them for lifelong learning and a number of professions.
In addition to building critical reading and writing skills, students make connections between literature and the world around them. We offer the English major, with its traditional focus on literature; the English minor, for students interested in literature but majoring in other areas; the Integrated Language Arts major, for students preparing to teach in secondary schools; and the Professional Writing minor, for students interested in pursuing a greater number of writing experiences.
Because of our emphasis on careful reading and thinking through challenging texts, Ohio Dominican's English graduates have established successful careers in areas such as business, publishing, teaching, law, medicine and the arts.
