Minor in Human Resources Management
Enhance Your Major
ODU’s minor in Human Resource Management (HRM) prepares students for careers as human resource professionals. Students gain knowledge in the areas of recruitment, training and development, employee retention, diversity management, and employee relations.
Students are equipped with knowledge and competencies to stay abreast of current trends in the workplace and the changing nature of human resource management, whether their role is to manage their own business, recruit and hire top talent, develop and retain human talent, or ethically manage human capital in a diverse workforce.
The minor in HRM will complement any major and is designed for both non-business and business majors.
It is expected that three types of students will be drawn to courses in HRM:
- Students who wish to learn about the management of human capital as a way of preparing for a career in Human Resources
- Students preparing for careers in other fields that require some knowledge of training
- Students who expect to go on to careers in labor relations.
