All ODU Sociology majors complete an internship. Typically, that internship takes
place during their senior year. Graduates usually find jobs in the social service
and non-profit sectors serving families, children or teens, immigrants and women.
Ohio Dominican is just minutes from downtown Columbus, where a variety of companies
and organizations are located. Central Ohio enjoys a diverse economy with many internship
possibilities in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
ODU faculty and Career Development Center are eager to help interested students secure relevant internship experiences.
The Poverty & Development Seminar is taught in Guatemala every other May term for
two weeks. Students study the root causes of poverty in a Central American context
and examine grassroots programs that address the structural and systemic causes of
poverty. They have the opportunity to live with Guatemalan families in the countryside
for two to three days during the course.
